• LGSUHSD joins Canvas breach lawsuit, food co-op (losgatan.com) — Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District has joined a mass lawsuit over the recent Canvas data breach, aiming to shift liability away from local schools like Saratoga High if stolen student information is misused. Trustees also voted to join a regional food purchasing co-op to cut costs and recognized Saratoga High senior Alma Garniek and other staff for their contributions. 
• Saratoga to continue with Santa Clara Co. Sheriff's Office for police services (nbcbayarea.com) — Saratoga residents will continue to be served by the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office after the City Council voted 4-1 to keep its current policing contract, rather than switch to Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police in 2027. The decision follows concerns over rising law-enforcement costs, with councilmembers demanding more data and transparency on how Saratoga's money is spent on police services.
• Saratoga middle school students taste-test potential school lunch options (mercurynews.com) — Redwood Middle School students in Saratoga are helping shape future cafeteria menus by taste-testing new items like beef birria, banana bread, and fruit slushies during National School Lunch Week. Residents can also catch two concerts at nearby West Valley College on Oct. 15, featuring musicians with disabilities whose collaboration highlights perseverance and inclusion.
