Red Flag Warning: Weather Conditions Can Create 'Extreme Fire Behavior'
Strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures are a bad combination around dry vegetation.

URGENT FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE
From the National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
FIRE WEATHER WATCH in effect Saturday night through Sunday afternoon for gusty northeast winds and low relative humidity for much of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. Surface high-pressure building into the Great Basin through tonight into Sunday morning, bringing a moderate to locally strong Santa Ana Wind event across Southern California. Winds are expected to increase sharply this evening across the mountains and descend into the lower elevations overnight. Humidities are expected to lower rapidly with the onset of offshore winds. Widespread humidities of 10 to 15 percent can be expected across the warning area, with isolated single digits in the mountains. The combination of gusty offshore winds, low humidity, and dry fuels has prompted the issuance of the RED FLAG WARNING.

Los Angeles County San Fernando Valley:
RED FLAG WARNING in effect from 2 a.m. to 6 p.m. PST Sunday for wind and low relative humidity, for gusty northeast winds and low relative humidity for the San Fernando Valley. This warning is in effect from 2 a.m. to 6 p.m. PST Sunday, and replaces the Fire Weather Watch.
Winds: northeast 20 to 30 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH. Strongest winds northern and western portions of region on Sunday morning.
Relative Humidity: 10 to 15 percent.
Impacts: If fire ignition occurs, there could be the potential for large fire growth with rapid fire spread, which could lead to threat of life and property.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions: A RED FLAG WARNING means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurrring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will create extreme fire behavior.
