Walk to End Alzheimer's - San Fernando Valley

The 3rd annual Alzheimer’s Association®
Walk to End Alzheimer’s® for the San Fernando Valley will take place
Sunday, June 9, at Woodley Park in Van Nuys (6350 Woodley Ave., 91436).  Families,
friends and people living with the disease will walk side by side with teams
from community groups, businesses and assisted living facilities, to help improve the lives of people with
dementia and to support valuable research.

 


Walk to End Alzheimer’s will include a 5k route, entertainment, food,
awards and a family festival with KidZone and an opportunity drawing for an
iPad mini.  The musical duo Jusstuss,
featuring Brad St. James and Suzi Q will perform; Reggie Thornton will lead a
hip-hop warmup; and there also will be a canine costume contest.  Walkers
who raise $100 receive a commemorative T-shirt, and there will be prizes for
top fund-raising teams and individuals.

 

Last
year’s winners include Harry’s
Haven
, part of the Motion
Picture & Television Fund
, which took honors for the top friends &
family team, Leeza’s Place was the
top corporate team; and the top individual fundraiser was Eileen Doctorow of
Harry’s Haven.

 

Onsite registration opens at 7 a.m., opening ceremonies begin at
8:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 9 a.m.
