89 Teams Participate In Santa Rosa Grape Stomp

There were three days of grape squishing and juice slinging!

SONOMA VALLEY, CA - From Sonoma Valley Harvest Fair: After three days of grape squishing, juice slinging, crowd roaring fun the KZST World Championship Grape Stomp results are in! 89 teams vied for the ultimate bragging rights and the $1,500 prize during the 2018 Sonoma County Harvest Fair.

After three days of preliminary rounds, involving 178 contestants, Dee Dee Lombardi Brandt and Angela
Lombardi Carvalho were invited back to the finals to defend their World Championship title. For the third
year, the sister team took home the $1,500 and a new set of trophies to add to their collection. With this year’s final juice weight weighing in at 17.36 pounds, the pair almost three pounds ahead of the next challenger.

Dee Dee and Angela had become the new World Champions in 2016 with 17.45 pounds of juice stomped.
They claimed the title again in 2017 with an impressive 21.09 pounds of juice in the final round. Earlier this
summer the pair traveled to New York to represent the Sonoma County Harvest Fair as they attempted to
complete a Guinness World Record on Live with Kelly and Ryan. The team stomped 12 liters worth of juice
on live television missing the world record mark of 20 liters.

The KZST World Championship Grape Stomp tradition at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair dates back over
four decades. Since then, wine and food lovers from the local area and as far abroad as South America, India
and Australia, have been attending the Sonoma County Harvest Fair—planning their visit each October to
sample the county’s bounty and participate in the wildly popular KZST World Championship Grape Stomp.
This year, teams traveled from near and far for a chance at the prize including numerous international teams;
Saturday’s qualifying stomps featured multiple teams from Canada all celebrating one stomper’s birthday.

The Sonoma County Harvest Fair took place October 5, 6 & 7 and included a Grand Tasting of award
winning wines and culinary creations, Workshops, Chef Demonstrations, a local Marketplace, and much
more in addition to the KZST World Championship Grape Stomp.
