<p>In
 this upcoming session, students will focus on building a variety of 
slab projects while exploring techniques using colored slips to enhance 
the surface. Students will utilize the studio’s slip collection and also
 create several unique colors of our own.The techniques in this class 
will include color blocking, slip trailing, sgraffito, and the use of 
stencils. Lynn will also share her personal tips for success.</p>

 to create small abstract landscapes with acrylics on wooden tiles using
 a limited palette, blending techniques, and unique tools. Beginners 
welcome!</h6>

<h3>About the Class</h3>
<p>Have
 you always wanted to paint landscapes but don’t know where to start? Or
 are you curious about acrylics but haven’t taken the plunge yet? In 
this class, you’ll learn a simple technique to create small, abstract 
landscapes on 5” square wooden tiles using a limited palette of colors.<br><br>You’ll
 be guided through the basics of acrylic paints and mediums, including 
surface preparation, color blending with a flat bristle brush, and using
 different tools to add texture and detail. By the end of the class, 
you’ll apply a final coat of medium to seal and protect your artwork, 
leaving you with 2-3 completed pieces to take home, along with a little 
easel to display your favorite one.<br><br>This class is perfect for 
beginners, though some prior painting experience is helpful. The process
 you’ll learn can easily be applied to larger paintings or even collage 
projects.<br><br>All materials are provided. Feel free to bring snacks or a bag lunch to eat while you work.</p>

<p>Carry
 it with you&nbsp;is Ariana Stein’s (she/they) debut solo exhibition. Ari’s 
work is deeply rooted in folk tradition, both through their 
Hungarian-American heritage, and lineage in North Carolina pottery 
apprenticeship. As a child of immigrants living in America, Ari values 
the importance of generational knowledge in a hyper-modern world.&nbsp;Carry 
it with you&nbsp;invites viewers to examine craft as an active conversation 
that marries past places, cultures, and people with the artist’s 
perspective here, and now.</p>
<h2>Artist <mark>Statement</mark></h2>
<p>Ariana
 Stein is a ceramic artist based in central North Carolina. She is a 
former apprentice to Kate Waltman and recipient of the 2025 Studio 
Potter Grant for Apprenticeship Program. Ariana has exhibited her work 
across the USA and internationally. She has won numerous awards for her 
work, including the First Annual NCECA Creative Research Fellowship to 
pursue a body of work in her country of heritage, Hungary, in 2025. 
Ariana’s work combines historic making traditions from North Carolina 
pottery with the visual patterns and compelling folklore of Hungarian 
folk art.</p>
