Join us for an October afternoon at Beauty Ranch as the park prepares for the night. We’ll start with a hot drink and some park legends before heading out for a walk.
During the tour, we’ll learn more about the park’s nocturnal animals and finish by visiting our colony of nearly 1,200 bats just as they begin to emerge.
It will be a leisurely walk suitable for all ages.

Join professional photographers Susan and Neil Silverman, <a href="https://www.silvermansphotography.com" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">www.silvermansphotography.com</a>, for an inspiring, hands-on exploration of your phone camera’s creative potential.
The first half of the class will be held in the House of Happy Walls Museum.The instructors will demonstrate camera settings, creative features, and practical techniques that will help you make the most of the camera you carry every day. The demonstrations are designed to teach how the camera works and to inspire your eye for composition, light, and storytelling.
After a short lunch break, the group will move to Beauty Ranch to photograph a variety of subjects while practicing the techniques just learned. Discover new photographic techniques and creative possibilities while you experience and appreciate the remarkable beauty, history, and atmosphere of Jack London State Historic Park. It’s the perfect setting to experiment, ask questions, and develop both technical skills creative vision.
Photographers of all experience levels are welcome, and any smartphone camera may be used. Demonstrations will be presented on a newer iPhone, but the concepts and techniques apply to virtually all modern smartphones.

Join Jack London Park Partners and Sonoma Ecology Center staff in a series of intermediate hikes, guided in Spanish, between Jack London State Historic Park and Sugarloaf Ridge State Park. Each hike is a round trip, returning to the starting point, and will increase in length or difficulty. Not appropriate for children under 12 years old.Sat. Oct. 24 – Upper Fallen to Camp Via to Fern Lake at Jack London. 5.72 miles, 1,150 ft. elevation (meet at Jack London State Historic Park). 
Sat. Nov. 7 – Gunsight Rock at Sugarloaf/Hood Mountain Regional Park. 6.44 miles, 2,129 ft. elevation (meet at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park).
Sun. Nov. 15 – Sonoma Ridge in Sonoma Developmental Center/Jack London. 9.67 miles, 2,126 ft. elevation (meet at the intersection of Arnold Dr. and Harney Rd., inside the SDC).
Sat.Nov. 21 – "The Big Loop" at Sugarloaf. 7.37 miles, 1,739 ft elevation (meet at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park).

Los Colores de Otoño (The Colors of Autumn) is a community day in Spanish for the whole family to enjoy nature, art, culture, and the season together.
Come in costume and spend the day surrounded by papel picado, Mexican food, art and crafts inspired by Halloween and Día de los Muertos, and opportunities to get an up-close look at the region’s wildlife. There will be activities for kids and adults, community organizations sharing resources, and a collection of animal skulls and pelts to explore. And everyone who comes in costume gets candy!
Whether with family, friends, a partner, or on your own, this will be a day to connect, create, and celebrate the colors and traditions that make this time of year so special.

Draw inspiration from the creatures that have haunted stories for centuries: vampires, witches, warlocks, ghouls, demons, banshees, sirens, mermaids, spiders, and spectral beings that linger between this world and the next. Costumes are encouraged to capture the spirit of the night while embracing the elegance, drama, and intrigue of a masquerade. Come masked. Come transformed. Come as something thing that only emerges after dark.
**IMPORTANT PARKING DETAILS - PLEASE READ** Due to Buena Vista's limited parking, we are offering a limited number of ON-SITE VIP Parking Tickets available at $15 per parking space. Available at checkout as an "ADD-ON" option. For guests not purchasing a VIP Parking ticket, you must park Downtown at the Sonoma Plaza or Ridesharing (Uber or Lyft) is encouraged. We will provide Shuttle service at no charge in front of the Sonoma Mission 114 East Spain Street, Sonoma, beginning at 6:15pm - running every 15 minutes. Downtown parking is available at public parking lots, at no charge. The largest is the Casa Grande lot, located behind the historic Barracks just north of the Plaza, with an entrance off First Street East. There are also numerous spaces surrounding the Sonoma Plaza.
