Nature enthusiasts are invited to Quarryhill Botanical Garden for an easy to moderate hike through a wealth of botanic wonders gathered from Asia. Executive Director, Bill McNamara, will give a brief introduction to the 25-acre home of one of the largest collections of scientifically documented, wild-source Asian plants in North America.
A free, docent-led hike will follow on trails through oaks, maples, dogwoods, lilies and roses. We will cross over bridges above lily ponds and waterfalls, meander on winding paths through flowering gardens and take in the views of Sonoma Valley from the Prayer Flag precipice at the top of the property. Our evening will conclude with a bring-your-own picnic in the private garden of founder Jane Davenport Jansen’s home.
Meet at 5:15pm. The short informational talk and hike will begin at 5:30 pm. Quarryhill Botanical Garden is ½ block north of the signal at Hwy12 and Arnold Drive in Glen Ellen. Please bring exact change for the $6 vehicle parking fee. Meet in the parking area under the trees near the information kiosk.
