First District Supervisor Susan Gorin is inviting applicants for the several commissions and boards. Applicants are generally expected to live in the Sonoma Valley, congruent with the district Gorin represents, and in some cases specific regions within that district.
There are a number of Boards, Committees and Commissions which cover all ranges of services. A list of all regular and ongoing boards, commissions, and committees to which the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors solely appoints members, or in a joint effort with other governmental bodies appoints members, is available at this online location.
Sonoma Valley Citizens Advisory Commission (SVCAC): This opening is for an appointee who must reside in the Springs East area which is parts Boyes and El Verano and defined by Trinity Road on the west side, and the City limits and Urban Service Area on the south side. The SVCAC exists to provide a regular forum for citizen participation in the formation of public policy, consider issues concerning the Sonoma Valley, evaluate solutions of these issues, advise elected officials and other decision makers, and form a bridge for communication between the various governmental agencies and the general public. AB 939 Local Task Force: The Task Force develops goals, policies, and procedures which are consistent with guidelines and regulations adopted by the Board regarding integrated waste management issues and to guide the development of the Siting Element of the County-wide Integrated Waste Management Plan. Alcohol and Drug Problems (Advisory Board): Members of the Advisory Board participate in the planning process of collaborative short and long term goals and objectives for alcohol and other drug service delivery for all segments of the community; assist in the development of appropriate and effective evaluation strategies for programs; assist in the process to address current and future service needs; encourage and educate the public to understand the nature of alcohol and other drug problems and encourage community support of alcohol and drug programs.
