Burglary Suspects Plead Not Guilty in Juvenile Court

INGLEWOOD (CNS) - Three teenagers suspected in a string of break-ins at
homes in Lomita, Torrance and Los Angeles denied Juvenile Court petitions today charging them with burglary and receiving stolen property.

The denials are the equivalent of not guilty pleas in adult court.

The two girls -- 14 and 15 -- and a 15-year-old boy are charged with three felony counts each of first-degree residential burglary and one felony count each of receiving stolen property, according to Dara Williams, the deputy in charge of the District Attorney's Inglewood branch.

The three were allegedly seen carrying property out of a side yard of a
home in the 24600 block of Falena Avenue in Lomita at about 3:15 p.m. on
Monday, according to authorities.

Sheriff's deputies and a sheriff's helicopter responded to the scene, and the three teens were found with numerous items of allegedly stolen property from the Falena Avenue residence as well as from two other locations in Lomita, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Mark Moffett of the Lomita station.

The juveniles are suspected in other burglaries in Torrance and Los Angeles, he said.

The 15-year-old boy and the 14-year-old girl remain detained pending an Oct. 16 hearing, and the 15-year-old girl was placed on house arrest through the community detention program and is due back in court Oct. 30, according to the District Attorney's Office.
