Today’s City Council meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. and will take up several topics of interest to South Gate. Here are two of the most important happenings on the agenda:

1)   The South Gate City Council will consider approving an employment agreement with Michael Flad, the former Burbank City Manager, for the position of South Gate City Manager. This agreement would allow Flad to assume the role of South Gate City Manager on December 3, 2012.

According to a publicly available summary of the contract, the yearly salary that is being offered to Flad is $215,000. This salary falls within the city budget and is expected to have no fiscal impact on it.

The report also indicated that Flad will be getting paid slightly less in South Gate then he was in Burbank.

Flad will also have the choice of choosing to use a city provided vehicle or receiving a $500 allowance if he instead decides to use his own car.

2) The city will consider the appropriation of $30,000 from the Gas & Tax fund. The money is expected to be used for the electrical services of the Stanford Alley camera installation. The cameras were voted in favor by the South Gate City Council to curb the incidents of illegal dumping on that particular alley.
