City Council Plans to Clarify that Medicinal Marijuana is Restricted in Parks
The City Council meets tonight on various topics, including an ordinance clarifying that medicinal marijuana is restricted in parks and a state grant to pay for police overtime.

Today’s meeting at 6:30 p.m. will be the second of the year, with members taking up several topics of high interest in South Gate. Here are four of them.
1. The council will issue a proclamation to honor the Jaguars Football Team for its Division II All-City Football championship win.

2. Members will introduce an ordinance to amend current citywide alcoholic and drug restrictions in parks to include medicinal marijuana and any other intoxicant prescribed by a physician. As a result, medical marijuana will also not be allowed in the parks.
3) The City Council will consider using state Alcohol Beverage Control Grant Assistance Funds to pay for overtime expenses of local police officers during the 2011–2012 fiscal year.
