Such property or evidence is usually authorized for release by a court or in the cases of lost property being retrieved by an owner. The South Gate Police Department hopes that the set time will make it easier for residents to retrieve their goods.

“We thought it was better to have a set time for people to show up,” said Sullivan. “They can also make appointments with the property officer.”
