Man´s Body Found at Scene of Fire

Fire kills South Gate resident.

A man's body was found Wednesday at the scene of a fire in a house described as having "pack rat" conditions in the South Gate area, Los Angeles County fire authorities said.

Firefighters sent to the 2500 block of Cole Place about 6:45 a.m. extinguished the flames in the single-family house in about 15 minutes, said county fire Inspector Quvondo Johnson.

The body was discovered when firefighters searched the residence, Johnson said. The man's identity was withheld, pending notification of his relatives. The cause of the fire was under investigation. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
