This morning, at approximately 4: 00 a.m., the South Gate Police Department (SGPD) responded to a call regarding an alleged shooting on the 9500 block of California Avenue. "Upon arrival, officers determined the subject was deceased," said Captain Keith Hupp of the SGPD. "There is currently a criminal investigation."  All north and south bound traffic in California Avenue been Duane Way and Missouri Avenue has been shut down. The SGPD recommends residents to take alternate routes such as State Street, Long Beach Boulevard and Otis Avenue. The California Avenue closure will most likely remain in place until noon, said Capt.
