Man Suspected of Injuring Baby is Jailed in Lynwood

LONG BEACH (CNS) - A 25-year-old man was behind bars today, suspected of
injuring his 6-month-old son, causing the infant to be hospitalized in Long
Beach in extremely critical condition, authorities said.
David Gomez of East Rancho Dominguez is being held at the Century
Regional Detention Center in Lynwood with bail set at $100,000, said Los
Angeles County sheriff's Deputy Don Walker.

He was arrested at 7 a.m. Thursday,according to online jail records.
The child had been in his care on Wednesday. He was later taken from the
15600 block of Washington Avenue in Compton and brought to Long Beach
Memorial Medical Center suffering from traumatic body injuries, Walker said.

Sheriff's detectives went to the hospital Wednesday night to investigate
and subsequently arrested Gomez, he said.
Sheriff's detectives are investigating the case because it originated in
Compton, where police services are provided by the Los Angeles County
Sheriff's Department.
