Miss South Gate Pageant to Take Place on Friday
Contestants are expected to theatrically represent an influential woman on stage.

The 2012 Miss South Gate Pageant is set to take place this Friday with the participation of nine local young women at the Organizers are optimistic about the success of the pageant after having . This year’s pageant promises to be an entertaining production for all the attendees.
“It is a full blown pageant,” said , executive director of the South Gate Chamber of Commerce, the agency in charge of the pageant. “It is a production and the participating women pour their hearts into it.”

The pageant will include a choreographed group act, public speaking portions and runway walks by the contestants. However, organizers believe that the highlight of the event will be when contestants are asked to portray a historically significant woman on stage.
“I really wanted them to think out of the box,” said Lindsay Cox, coordinator and choreographer for the pageant, who won Miss South Gate in 2007. Cox came up with this idea as a way to change and spice up this year’s pageant. “The girls really took the time to discover the character that they will portray.”

The most compelling performance by a contestant in this portion of the show will get its own independent award at the discretion of the audience.
“The audience will vote for who was the best at portraying their chosen influential women,” said Cox, when describing what will be referred to as the “People’s Choice” award.
The 2012 Miss South Gate Pageant will take place on Friday at 7:30. People are welcomed to arrive as early as 6:30 pm. Tickets will cost $8 at the door, but $5 if purchased prior at the South Gate Chamber of Commerce.
