Plaza Mexico in Lynwood celebrates Mexican Independence Day on Sun. Sept 15th!

LOS ANGELES, CA (September 1, 2011) – Plaza Mexico, Bravo Entertainment, Azteca America KAZA CH 54, along with co-sponsors Sigue Money Transfer Services, Loan Mart, La Opinion, Union Bank, Curacao, the Plaza Mexico Merchant’s Association, and the Plaza Mexico Foundation will present a free “El Grito!” Mexican Independence Day concert on Sunday, September 15 at Plaza Mexico in Lynwood kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month in Los Angeles County!
 
The event will feature popular recording artists Regulo Caro, Bukanas de Culiacan, Mariachi Sol de Mexico de Jose Hernandez, El Conjunto Nueva Ola, Muzik Junkeez and a full line-up of local talent including dance groups and folkloric presentations direct from Mexico. The grand event runs from 11am to 11pm.  It will include a full staged reenactment of “El Grito de Independencia y Revolucion Mexicana” (story of the Independence of Mexico) and a civic ceremony featuring the Mexican Consulate General in Los Angeles.  Other entertainment includes a children’s village sponsored by Disneyland, a secondary stage with performances by local artists, authentic delicious food, and a variety of entertainment for all ages.
The much-anticipated event not only initiates the beginning of National Hispanic Heritage Month in Los Angeles, but also celebrates the Independence Day of Mexico and other great
Latin American countries also celebrating their Independence – El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua.   
 
“We’re very proud to host this annual important celebration for all Latinos living in the United States,” said Mario Cardenas, Plaza Mexico’s General Director of PR.  “This festival is an annual gathering of our community and it allows us to learn and celebrate the story of our roots – Hispanic Heritage.”
Headlining the event is a special appearance by Del Records recording artist, Regulo Caro.  “Especialista” his most recent release, debuted at #1 on iTunes and is in the midst of a heavy promotional tour for his album.  His appearance at Plaza Mexico marks a much-anticipated return to the Southland and is a unique opportunity for fans of all ages to see his electrifying live performance.
 
Plaza Mexico is a 650,000 sq foot commercial shopping center with over 250 stores, offering a rich colonial architecture including outdoor plazas, sitting areas, fountains and kiosks.  It is located at 3100 E. Imperial Hwy, in the city of Lynwood, CA 90262.
