The South Gate Police Department (SGPD) told South Gate Patch Latino that none of the ten assaults with a deadly weapon that were reported last week via Crime Reports are related.
“None of the 10 appear to be related to one another,” said Captain Keith Hupp of the SGPD. “Two were not in South Gate but were in the sheriff department’s area of the county.”

The SGPD told Patch that the case with the firearm involved a dispute between a family and a friend.
“[The suspect] fired several rounds at the victims residence,” said Capt. Hupp. “Nobody was struck by the gunfire.”
During this investigation SGPD officers conducted a surveillance operation. The suspect was eventually arrested and the two firearms that were allegedly used in the shooting were also seized.
“The suspect was formally charged with multiple felony charges by the District Attorney’s Office as a result of this investigation,” concluded Capt. Hupp.
The SGPD has previously stated that summer is a prone to having more assaults.
