South Gate - Lynwood General Election Guide 2012

Election Day is here and South Gate - Lynwood Patch Latino is devoted to bringing you the information you need about every race in town. Here’s our start on the candidates and issues we'll be covering.

Unless you haven't watch that much news or TV lately, President Barack Obama is in the run-up to the election against Republican candidate Mitt Romney.

For the newly formed 44th District, which includes South Gate and Lynwood, Congresswoman Janice Hahn (D-CA 36th District) will face runner-up Congresswoman Laura Richardson (D-CA 37th District, in the November general election.

At the state level,  state assemblyman Ricardo Lara (D-50th district) is the only candidate on the ballot for the new 33rd Assembly district seat.

With 11 state measures on a crowded ballot, the propositions with the most attention are Proposition 30 and 38, both proposing increased funding for education through higher taxes.
