South Gate Resident Killed on Golden State Freeway

The crash is under investigation.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A 34-year-old motorist was killed as his vehicle struck a concrete center divider wall on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Lincoln Heights, the California Highway Patrol said today. The crash on the southbound freeway, just north of Duvall Street, was reported to the CHP about 9 p.m. Friday, according to a department statement.

CHP officers arriving on the scene found the vehicle in the center divider with the left side of the 2001 Acura resting against the concrete wall, according to the statement. Paramedics rushed the motorist, a resident of South Gate, to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was the only person inside the vehicle.

"At this time alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this collision and the collision is still under investigation,'' according to the department statement.
