SCE: Storm Related Outages Occur in South Gate

Sunday should be warmer and sunny, with highs in the lower 70s.

UPDATED at 1:19 p.m.

Southern California Edison officials reported Saturday that South Gate had no power outages as of 5 a.m.

SCE information officer Mashi Nyssen also warned residents to watch out for downed wires, because of the high winds. They should not go near them or touch them but to call 911.

About 900 Southern California Edison customers were without power early Saturday in South Gate and nearby cities, an SCE spokesperson said.

Other cities in Los Angeles County that were affected included Santa Monica, Long Beach, Hawthorne and other areas of Los Angeles County, SCE information officer Lois Pitter Bruce said.

It was unclear how many of the 900 were actually in South Gate and whether the the power had been restored by noon.
