Each year Los Angeles Music Academy College of Music (www.lamusicacademy.edu) opens its doors to musicians ages nine and up for a week long music program focusing on performance and songwriting in the rock, funk and jazz genres.

Students write and record an original song and learn from world-class musicians who they play with daily in ensemble workshops.

The summer program runs June 19-23 on the campus of one of the most renowned music colleges in the world, located at 370 S. Fair Oaks Ave. in Pasadena, CA.

“This year promises to be our best yet. We’re offering a comprehensive musical journey where students are treated to special performances, meet like-minded musicians, write an original song, record in a professional studio and play in live, interactive workshops,” says Tom Aylesbury, president of LA Music Academy.

“As with our existing programs, the friendly environment and personal attention combined with daily playing and singing gives the student a focused, style-specific experience.

Students must have a minimum of one year of private lessons. Basic tablature reading skills are required for guitarists and bassists. So that participants are grouped appropriately, placement evaluations will be held after orientation on the first day.

The summer program ($695 for 5/6/12 deadline) runs June 19-23 on the campus of one of the most renowned music colleges in the world.
