Caltrans Construction Will Make Getting to San Francisco a Nightmare
You've probably seen the highway warning signs. The closure is here--Thursday thru Monday (and maybe Tuesday).

Announcement from the CHP:
Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol will close Interstate 280 in San Francisco from US-101 to 6th / King Streets during Labor Day Weekend to complete a bridge hinge replacement project.
The closure will begin on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 2PM, and will continue until at least Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 5AM. If possible, Caltrans will end the closure early once the replacement work is complete.
During this closure, Interstate 280 SB and US-101 will remain open. Motorists who normally utilize I-280 NB are advised to detour to US-101.
CHP officers will be on scene assisting Caltrans with the freeway closure. We advise motorists to plan ahead, and allow for extra travel time when heading for San Francisco. We strongly encourage fans headed for AT&T Park to utilize public transportation options.
