Coroner IDs SSF Man Fatally Shot

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA – A 59-year-old man who was fatally shot by South San Francisco police last week has been identified by the San Mateo County coroner's office as John Wayne Eno. Officers responding to a report of a disturbance involving a firearm in the 3700 block of Cork Place around 11:50 p.m. on May 23 were confronted by Eno, who was armed with a shotgun.

Eno, a South San Francisco resident, refused commands to drop the weapon and was fatally shot by the officers.

One of the officers was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Further details about the nature of the officer's injuries were not immediately available from police.
