23 Club - (formerly Demarco's 23 Club) was founded in 1941 in Brisbane, and is almost as old as the city itself. During the great gold rush, this club used to be a regular haunt of gold miners and local residents alike. Many famous performers including Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Webb Pierce, Bob Wills, Hank Snow, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Patsy Cline have performed at the 23 Club and are enshrined in the walls of the club. Bourbon and blood has spilled on the stage of the 23 Club in the good and bad times since the wild, old days, but the rough wood structure still echoes the melodies of a time before the Telecaster was a 'vintage' guitar and the term 'retro' had been coined.
