Explore South San Francisco Through New, Free Shuttle

The shuttle provides a transit connection between civic centers, transportation hubs, city facilities, parks and arterial streets.

A new, free transit bus route began serving residents and visitors of South San Francisco Monday, city officials said.

The South City Shuttle, which provides a transit connection between civic centers, transportation hubs, city facilities, parks and arterial streets, was unveiled by Mayor Karyl Matsumoto and other city officials on Monday.

The shuttle’s route will begin and end at Bay 6 of the BART station located at 1333 Mission Road and will operate from 7:15 a.m. to 6:50 p.m.

The route features multiple stops including downtown, city hall, the Magnolia Senior Center, Orange Memorial Park, the Main Library, the Municipal Services Building, and the Terrabay Recreation Center, officials said.

“I’m pleased that we were able to bring back public transportation to portions of the South San Francisco community that lost some of its options due to service cuts,” Mayor Matsumoto said in a statement.

The shuttle is funded by a two-year grant from San Mateo County that was competed for and ultimately won by the South San Francisco City Council, led by Mayor Matsumoto.
