Film Screening: The Day the World Series Stopped

Where were you at 5:04 p.m. on October 17, 1989?

Join the South San Francisco Public Library for a special film screening. Lifelong San Francisco Giants fan Jon Leonoudakis and his brother Tim were inside Candlestick Park, waiting for the start of Game Three of the 1989 World Series. Twenty-nine minutes before game time, Mother Nature delivered a knockdown pitch for the ages: the largest earthquake to hit a major American city in nearly a century.

The Day the World Series Stopped features Jon’s original video and photography shot from October 17 to October 27, 1989, mixed with archival news footage and photographs to present a unique and personal perspective, exploring themes of fandom, family, civic pride, baseball, and the Bay Area’s triumph over tragedy.

This free event will take place Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at South San Francisco Main Public Library in our Auditorium.
