FREE Life-saving, Teen Pro-Active Driving School presented by B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe)

B.R.A.K.E.S. will be at Alameda Point (San Francisco Bay) on 5/16 & 5/17 conducting FREE Life-saving, Teen Pro-Active Driving School

B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe), started by champion top fuel drag racer Doug Herbert after he lost his sons in a 2008 highway accident, will be at Alameda Point in the San Francisco Bay area for two training sessions taking place on Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17.

β€œThe driving book tells you to turn the wheel during a skid, but it doesn’t tell you what to do after that,” said Herbert. β€œBecause of my boys, Jon and James, I want to help out other families so the tragedy that happened to us doesn’t happen to them,” Herbert said. β€œI think we’re doing it. It seems every day we get a letter or e-mail that tells us how something one of these students learned has kept them out of an accident.”

Some of the things the teens will work on during B.R.A.K.E.S. training include panic stopping, what to do when a wheel drops off the road and how to recover from a wet skid, in addition to other accident avoidance and distracted driving techniques.

β€œI grew up in California, as did our B.R.A.K.E.S. driving school director Matt Reilly so returning there with the opportunity to help teenage drivers make safer decisions and increase their skill levels while on the road takes on greater meaning,” said Herbert.
