Originally, at least nine vehicles were thought to have been stolen. However, ”subsequent investigation” has shown that eight were taken.
“All of the recovered vehicles were located in Oakland,” Belmont Police Captain Patrick Halleran said in a news release issued Tuesday. “This leaves only two vehicles unaccounted for.”

Though no suspects have been arrested in this case yet, Halleran said that BPD is working with the San Mateo Police Department who arrested two people on Tuesday for similar cases.
“Belmont Police investigators are working closely with the San Mateo County Vehicle Theft Task Force and other Bay Area law enforcement on this investigation,” Halleran said. “Similar thefts from auto dealerships have occurred recently, in the South Bay and Peninsula.”
