SSF Hosts One of Three Early Voting Locations in San Mateo County

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA – Mark Church, San Mateo County’s Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, announced that the voting period for the November 8, 2016 Presidential General Election will begin October 11, 2016.

“As a convenience to voters during the early voting period, voters from any precinct in the county are invited to visit one of our three Voting Centers to cast a ballot or drop off a voted mail ballot,” Church stated. “Voters may choose to vote electronically using the eSlate voting machine or by submitting a paper ballot,” he added.

The Voting Centers for the November Election are located at:

• Registration & Elections Division, 40 Tower Road, San Mateo
• 555 County Center, First Floor, Redwood City
• South San Francisco Public Library, 840 West Orange Avenue, South San Francisco

Hours of operation for the three Voting Centers are as follows:

• Tuesday, October 11 through Monday, November 7 (weekdays): 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Saturday, October 29 and Saturday, November 5: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Tuesday, November 8 (Election Day): 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

October 11, 2016 is also the first day that Official Ballots will be mailed to permanent Vote by Mail voters and to voters who have requested a Vote by Mail ballot just for the Presidential General Election.

Individuals interested in voting by mail can find an application postcard on the back cover of the Sample Ballot and Official Voter Information Pamphlet or online at www.shapethefuture.org under “Access My Election Materials”. Registered voters may request a ballot by mail until November 1.

Voters are encouraged to use the “Track and Confirm” tool on www.shapethefuture.org to track when ballot materials were mailed and when the Registration & Elections Division received the voted ballot. Voters can also confirm that their ballot was accepted, and if not, why not.

To easily access the “Track and Confirm” tool, text “San Mateo” to “2Vote” on your smart phone. You will receive a link that takes you to a convenient landing page.

Voted mail ballots can only be accepted if they are postmarked on or before Election Day and received by Monday, November 14, 2016. Voters may bring voted ballots in person to any city or town hall in the county through the close of business on November 8. On Election Day, voted mail ballots may be dropped off until8:00 p.m. at one of the three Voting Centers or any active polling place in the county.
