Car Thief Makes Off with Priceless 300-Year-Old Cello
A car stolen from outside a Valley hotel had a 300-year-old Antonio Domenicelli cello in its trunk.
Police today sought the public’s help in locating a stolen car and the valuable 300-year-old cello that was in its trunk when the vehicle was taken in Glendale.
The maroon 2007 Acura ATL sedan was stolen Nov. 1 from the Embassy Suites Hotel parking lot at 800 N. Central Ave., Tahnee Lightfoot of the Glendale Police Department said.

A $1,000 reward is being offered through Crime Stoppers for the cello, which has a natural wood color, asymmetrical carbon fiber tailpiece, a cutout design and a label bearing the words “Antonio Domenicelli Fecit en Ferrara 1714” that is visible through the instrument’s right-side F hole, Lightfoot said.
The cello has scratches on its back side, she said.

Anyone with information about the cello or the vehicle was urged to call Glendale police at (818) 548-4911. Anonymous tips can be made by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
