The six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Score, Choreography, Orchestration, and Sound Design, that KINKY BOOTS took home in 2013, were well deserved.
Featuring amazing composer/lyricist Cyndi Lauper (Grammy winning rock icon, Tony for Best Score, Kinky Boots); talented playwright/actor Harvey Fierstein (Tony Award winner: La Cage Aux Folles, A Torch Song Trilogy, Hairspray); and renowned director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell (Tony for Best Choreography, Kinky Boots), these pros are all at the top of their game.

Any review would be awry without mentioning the outstanding triple threat, Kyle Taylor Parker, who plays lead character, Lola. Whenever Parker appears, he has complete, confident command of the captivated audience. Kyle IS Kinky Boots! Someone please get this phenomenal actor/singer/dancer a project of his own.
Be prepared to have your spirits uplifted. No matter how you’re feeling when you arrive, you will leave ecstatic and energized, with a smile in your heart and soul, and an ear to ear grin on your face. Expect to be cheering, clapping, and groovin’ in your chair throughout the evening.
KINKY BOOTS follows two men, Lola and Charlie (the terrific Steven Booth), who although they have nothing in common on the outside, nevertheless bond when both strive to follow their passions and instincts, that go against the world’s expectations of them.
The inspirational message in KINKY BOOTS, i.e. to be yourself rather than live in someone else’s image, becomes evident in the tune, “Not My Father’s Son,” skillfully sung by Lola and Charlie.
