One of the nation's first gringo taco stands inched closer to landmark status Thursday, but Henry's Tacos of Studio City may still be in jeopardy.

The Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission voted 5-0 to recommend that the Googie-style stand at 11401 Moorpark St. join the architectural pantheon.

If approved by the City Council, the iconic stand that turned 50 this month would be named a Historic-Cultural Monument.
