Area Registered Sex Offender Arrested For Child Porn

FAIRFIELD, CA – A 78-year-old registered sex offender was arrested today after a search-warrant investigation of his property allegedly uncovered images of child pornography, the Fairfield Police Department said.

Fairfield detectives launched a probe last month after learning someone in a residence on the 2800 block of Mankas Boulevard was possibly downloading child pornography, police said.

"Based on this information, our Electronic Crimes detective began an investigation to determine the location of the transfer and identify the person(s) responsible for the downloads," the department said.

On Oct.23, a search warrant was served at the home and several items were seized -- items that were searched and reportedly found to contain several pieces of child sexual-abuse images, police said.

The resident, Gerald Ray Tucker, a registered sex offender with a prior conviction for child porn, was arrested today and booked into the Solano County Jail for suspicion of possession of child pornography, police said.

"We at the Fairfield Police Department believe that protecting our children is one of our most important jobs," the agency said. "It is for this reason that the Electronic Crimes unit actively searches for suspects within our community who are engaged in the transfer of child pornography."
