• School board lobbies against construction of ICE detention facility (paloaltoonline.com) — Sunnyvale School District has joined Palo Alto, Santa Clara County, and other districts in opposing a proposed federal immigration detention center near Gilroy, citing potential trauma and absenteeism for local students. Palo Alto's school board just passed a resolution aligning with lawsuits by state and county leaders, arguing the project threatens student well-being and community trust, especially for immigrant families across the South Bay.
