3 DUI Arrests Made At Temecula Checkpoint

TEMECULA, CA — A weekend DUI checkpoint in Temecula netted three arrests, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department reported.

Deputies from the Sheriff’s Southwest Station made the DUI arrests Friday night during the five-hour checkpoint located in the 26000 block of Ynez Road.

In addition, 18 unlicensed drivers were cited/arrested and five vehicles were towed during the operation that began at 6 p.m.

"DUI checkpoints are placed in locations based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests," according to the sheriff's department.

The suspects' names were not provided.

Those found guilty of DUI can expect to pay approximately $13,500 in fines, fees and other expenses, the sheriff's department said.

DUI arrests don't necessarily involve alcohol and/or illegal drugs.

"Prescription drugs, particularly those with a driving or operating machinery warning on the label, can impair and result in a DUI," the sheriff's department said. "Marijuana can also be impairing, especially in combination with alcohol or other drugs."

More DUI checkpoints are expected, although no dates were immediately provided.
