Annual New Year's Eve 'Grape Drop' to be Held in Temecula

A cluster of 160 illuminated, giant grapes measured at 7 feet wide and 12 feet long, will drop from Temecula Civic Center's clock tower.

TEMECULA, CA- The city of Temecula will welcome 2016 with its annual grape drop Thursday night, a celebration of both the New Year and Temecula’s connection to wine and agriculture, the city announced today.

A cluster of 160 illuminated, giant grapes measured at 7 feet wide and 12 feet long, will drop from Temecula Civic Center’s clock tower for a pair of countdown celebrations. Both the east coast and west coast New Year’s countdowns will be conducted tomorrow night, along with a variety of activities for all ages.

Live entertainment will include music performances by the Inland Empire Chorus, Resonate! Vocal Group, ESCAPE--the Journey Tribute Band, Evan Wecksell and Stone Soul. The Valley Winds Community Concert Band will also be performing at the Serendipity Antiques lot on Main Street from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Kids can enjoy the “Fun Zone,” which will feature hat making, calligraphy, face painting and a giant carnival slide. Entry is $5.

The Ice America skating rink will also be open through the evening.

The event will start at 6 p.m. and last through 1 a.m.
