SAGE, CA — A brush fire that erupted Monday just south of Vail Lake in Sage consumed roughly eight acres before firefighters got it under control.

The non-injury blaze was reported about 4:20 p.m. in the area of Highway 79 and Sage Road, less than a mile southeast of Butterfield Lake Estates, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said multiple engine crews and truck companies were sent to the location and encountered flames burning at a slow rate in medium vegetation.
