Brush Fire Temporarily Shuts Down SR-371 In Aguanga

AGUANGA, CA — A brush fire that broke out early Wednesday morning in Aguanga forced the closure of state Route 371 as crews quickly worked to stop the blaze.

Dubbed the Highway Fire, the brusher was reported at 6:59 a.m. along SR-371, south of Foolish Pleasure Road, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The blaze scorched approximately 3 acres before crews stopped the forward rate of spread, the agency said.

During the efforts, SR-371 was closed between Wilson Valley and Wildwood roads, according to Caltrans. At approximately 9 a.m., the agency reported one lane on SR-371 was opened with traffic control that was expected to last 3 hours.

There were no reports of injuries or structure damage due to the fire. A vehicle fire was the cause of the blaze, according to officials.
