County, Rape Crisis Center Renew Contract

The Riverside Area Rape Crisis Center will continue working collaboratively with the county Department of Probation to aid victims of assault, under a five-year contract approved this week by the Board of Supervisors.
According to probation officials, the no-fee contract will entail cross- utilization of personnel to ensure minors and adults receive the best possible assistance.

The nonprofit crisis center has been providing services to Riverside County since 2009, offering “hospital accompaniment, court accompaniment, in- person counseling, referral services and support groups” for the benefit of victims, according to probation department documents.
A 24-hour crisis hotline is also available, free of charge, to anyone in need, according to the agency.

The RARCC serves residents throughout central and western Riverside County, including Banning, Corona, Eastvale, Jurupa Valley, Lake Elsinore, Murrieta and Temecula.
The new contract, which extends to June 30, 2021, requires that probation officials and RARCC representatives meet periodically for training purposes and to discuss the effectiveness of services.
“The agencies will continue to provide mutual support and networking to victims of sexual assault and child sexual abuse and their families, and coordinate their services,” according to the compact.
