DUI Suspected In Injury Rollover Crash East Of Temecula

AGUANGA, CA — An unlicensed motorist suspected of driving under the influence and crashing his pickup truck on Highway 371 in Aguanga, injuring three of his four passengers, was behind bars Wednesday.

Adelaido Morales Reyes of Lindsay, Calif., was arrested and booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on Tuesday on suspicion of felony DUI resulting in injuries and driving without a license. He's being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Reyes was driving his 2004 Ford Sport Trac southbound on the 371, near Bradford Road, shortly before 10 a.m. when he "made an unsafe turning movement" that caused him to lose control of the vehicle on the two-lane corridor, California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Lassig said.

He said the pickup was going about 55 mph.

"The Ford rolled over onto the dirt shoulder area, where it came to rest on its roof," Lassig said.

No other vehicles were involved.

Reyes escaped with minor injuries, but three men who were his passengers were hospitalized. Their injuries ranged from moderate to major, Lassig reported.

Another man who was a passenger walked away unscathed, according to Lassig.

All of the passengers were Lindsay residents.

Lassig said that investigating officers immediately confirmed Reyes was intoxicated, and the suspect was taken to jail after being examined at Temecula Valley Hospital.
