'Erratic'-Driver Stop Leads To Drug Arrest In SWR

The Wildomar man, on probation, allegedly had a stash of heroin and meth, packaged for sale, officials said.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A 39-year-old Wildomar man was arrested on drug-related charges after being pulled over by law enforcement Monday night in Lake Elsinore for reportedly "driving erratically," according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies at about 9:12 p.m. stopped a green BMW, with Richard Cooley behind the wheel, in the area of Scrivener Street and Graham Avenue, the department said.

Cooley, on felony probation for receiving stolen property, had his car searched, in accordance with his probation terms, and deputies reportedly recovered 11.5 grams of heroin, 5.9 grams of methamphetamine, packaging, an airsoft pistol and other items "common with the sales of narcotics," officials said.

Cooley was booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center on the charges of suspected transportation for sales of methamphetamine and heroin, as well as violation of probation, deputies said.
