CHP Offers Free Driver Education Class To New, Inexperienced Temecula Drivers
The CHP offers this free 'Start Smart' class for teens and parents to help make the roads safe for all. Here's how to register.
TEMECULA, CA — The Temecula, California, Highway Patrol is offering a free 'Start Smart' driver education class aimed at helping newly licenced and soon-to-be licensed teenage drivers.
The class was planned for Wed., Jan. 28, from 6 to p.m. inside Temecula City Hall, 41000 Main Street.
The class is free and open to all, and parents are encouraged to attend. Sign up to save your spot at: www.eventbrite.com.

The class, geared toward drivers from 15 to 19 years old, will help them become more aware of the responsibilities that accompany the privilege of being a licensed California
driver, says CHP Officer Brian Seel.
"The newly licensed teenage driver and their parents/guardians are invited to attend and participate in a free two-hour-long Start Smart class hosted by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Temecula Area office."

In class, a CHP officer will speak directly to the newly licensed driver and their parents/guardians through candid conversations, discussing topics such as collision-avoidance techniques and collision-causing factors, including excessive speed, DUI, and distracted driving.
"Start Smart makes teens and parents aware of the responsibilities they face and teaches what precautions to take to stay safe, such as the importance of seat belts, passengers in the vehicle, and what to do when involved in a collision.
