Multiple Arrests Made At Temecula DUI Checkpoint Over The Weekend

A total of 804 vehicles were inspected Friday at the South Temecula DUI checkpoint.

TEMECULA, CA —Temecula's Southwest Sheriff's Station deputies arrested four drivers suspected of DUI during a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint Friday, they reported over the weekend.

According to the department, the checkpoint opened at 7 p.m. Friday and lasted until 1 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Temecula Parkway and Temecula Creek, according to a recent release from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

In addition to the four arrests, eight more drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license, and 804 vehicles were contacted.

"DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related incidents," Sgt. William Pratt said in a recent release.

The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the roads.

A grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration funded this checkpoint.
