One Injured In 79 South Multi-Car Crash At Vail Lake Resort

TEMECULA, CA — Traffic on the 79 South at Vail Oak Road—at Vail Lake Resort—was backed up for over two hours after a multi-car crash blocked all lanes, California Highway Patrol reported Tuesday.

At least one man was taken to Temecula Valley Hospital with minor injuries, according to CHP reports.

California Highway Patrol did not release any citations in the collision, and it is not known if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the collision.

The exact circumstances of the crash have not yet been released.

Just before 1 p.m., four cars collided in the area of the 79 South and Vail Lake Resort at Vail Oak Road, according to CHP.

A white van, white truck, black Subaru Outback and Tan Lexus collided in a chain-reaction crash injuring at least one driver and rendering two of the cars undrivable according to CHP Officer Russ Robertson.

A two-hour Sig Alert was put into place as emergency vehicles and tow trucks headed to the scene down narrow roads through halted traffic.

The roads were reopened by 2:45 p.m., Roberston said. Eastbound traffic remained heavy on the 79 South from Woodchuck Road to beyond Vail Lake Resort. Westbound traffic was heavy from Crosley Truck Trail to Dripping Springs Campground.
