Showers Possible for Riverside County Tuesday, Warming by Friday

We have rainfall totals from the autumn storm. How hot will it be by the weekend?

A few leftover showers could fall over the mountains of Riverside County today as a cool autumn storm continues to move eastward over the region, but most areas, including the Coachella Valley, will be drier and somewhat warmer.

The showers, which began Sunday, dropped anywhere from a hundredth of an inch to more than an inch of rain across the county, according to the National Weather Service.

Some of the highest amounts recorded as of about 11 p.m. Monday included 1.06 inches in Allandale; 0.94 of an inch at Vista Grande; .63 of an inch at the French Valley Airport, Skinner Lake and Idyllwild; and .55 of an inch near
Banning. On Sunday, the .27 of an inch of rain recorded in Idyllwild topped the previous record for the day of .24 of an inch, set in 1966, according to the NWS.

evening showers is forecast for the mountains amid high temperatures of 65 to 73 degrees.

“A few showers will be possible this afternoon and evening over the high deserts and mountains,’’ according to the weather service. ”Otherwise, clouds will gradually decrease through tonight, with temperatures remaining a
bit below normal.’’

Warmer, drier weather is expected to develop mid-week and high temperatures could reach up to 20 degrees above average Friday through the weekend, forecasters said.

“Strong high pressure aloft will gradually build over the region later this week, bringing dry and much warmer weather, becoming downright hot in most areas by this weekend,’’ according to the weather service.
