Supervisor Chuck Washington To Seek Re-Election In 2020

Washington took office on the Board of Supervisors in 2015.

From RivCo: Riverside County Third District Supervisor Chuck Washington announced today that he will run for re-election to the Board of Supervisors in 2020.

“In just four years of service on the Board of Supervisors, I have implemented policies and procedures to improve efficiencies and reduce costs, expedited road improvements such as the Clinton Keith Road extension and the Scott Road/I-215 interchange, improved public safety response times and increased the number of deputies while providing the District Attorney with tools for prosecuting criminals,” Supervisor Washington said.

Washington took office on the Board of Supervisors in 2015.

“I’m excited about the County’s future and eager to continue working to improve the quality of life for Riverside County residents,” Supervisor Washington said. “My priorities include supporting road projects that produce more jobs and reduce congestion, streamlining processes and implementing efficiencies to save taxpayers’ money, and helping business build and expand.”

Washington served as the chairman of the board in 2018 and most recently was elected to two key regional and statewide leadership roles.

He was unanimously elected as chairman of the Riverside County Transportation Commission in January. Washington will lead the Commission in its ongoing efforts to improve mobility and provide solutions to transportation challenges. RCTC is responsible for building highways, express lanes, interchanges, and railroad bridges and helps provide the five-county Metrolink passenger rail system.

In December, Washington was elected to serve on the executive committee of the California State Association of Counties. The association represents and advocates for counties before the California Legislature, administrative agencies and the federal government. The executive committee establishes priorities and policies each year that directly impact the programs and services provided by the counties.

Riverside County’s Third District is an 1,100-square-mile area that covers Temecula, Murrieta, Hemet, San Jacinto, Anza, Aguanga, Idyllwild and surrounding communities. More than 450,000 people live in the district.

A public servant since 1995, Washington previously served on the Temecula and Murrieta City Councils as mayor and council member for both cities, serving twice as mayor of Temecula. He is a former Navy officer and aviator and was a commercial airline pilot for 24 years.
