Temecula-Area Lawmakers Hosting Christmas Open House, Toy Drive

The event is planned for Monday night.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA - Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez, R-Lake Elsinore, and Rep. Ken Calvert, R-Corona, will ring in the holiday season Monday with a public celebration intended to toast constituents and collect gifts for underprivileged kids.

The legislators' "Christmas Open House" is planned from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Pins 'N Pockets, 32250 Mission Trail.

During the event, Calvert and Melendez will hear residents' thoughts while enjoying egg nog, chocolates and other holiday treats.

The lawmakers will also accept new toys for area youngsters whose families are struggling this Christmas, organizers said. Everyone is welcome.

Melendez was elected to her third term, and Calvert was elected to his 13th, on Nov. 8.

Assemblywoman Melissa A. Melendez represents the 67th Assembly District, which includes the communities of Lake Elsinore, Canyon Lake, Murrieta, Menifee, Wildomar and a portion of Hemet. It also includes the Riverside County unincorporated areas of Lake Mathews, Good Hope, Nuevo, and Winchester.

U.S. Congressman Ken Calvert represents the 42nd Congressional District, which encompasses the western edge of Riverside County including the cities of Eastvale, Norco, Corona, Lake Elsinore, Wildomar, Canyon Lake, Menifee, Murrieta and a portion of Temecula. The district also includes the unincorporated ares of El Sobrante, Woodcrest, Temescal Valley, Lakeview, Nuevo, Homeland, Winchester, and Aguanga.
