TEMECULA, CA — Details regarding a lockdown Monday afternoon at Temecula Valley High School were scant, but the Riverside County Sheriff's Department confirmed there was no immediate threat to students.

According to Sheriff's Sgt. Deanna Pecoraro, the sheriff's department received a call at 12:29 p.m. about a "possible armed student" at the campus located at 31350 Rancho Vista Road.

The student was "detained," and there was no threat at the campus nor any injuries, the sergeant said.

"In consultation with Riverside County Sheriff, about 10 minutes ago TVHS initiated a school wide lock down. We are actively following up on a report which initiated the lockdown. You will receive additional information as soon as it become[s] available," TVHS Principal Allen Williams wrote.

About 30 minutes later, Williams sent another correspondence to TVHS families that said the lockdown was lifted and "the threat to the campus was not credible."

Patch was still awaiting an update from the Temecula Valley Unified School District.

Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson April Newman confirmed shortly before 1:30 p.m. that her agency had received no calls for service regarding the campus incident. The fire department is the agency contacted when there are suspected injuries, fires or other situations of harm.
