Temeku Cinemas Reopens For Movie Lovers In Temecula

Tristone Cinemas has redesigned Temecula's discount movie theater and some changes, and pleasant surprises, are in store.

The longstanding theater in the At Home shopping center is open once again, just in time for "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" opening Friday.

TEMECULA, CA — Temeku Cinemas, closed for many months, has re-opened its doors after a significant redesign, owner and Tristone Cinemas CEO Heidi Robertson announced over social media.

This weekend the theater fired up the popcorn poppers and guests inside for a test run of the facility. Tickets were available online for showings of "Avatar: The Way of Water," "80 For Brady," "Knock at the Cabin," and "Puss in Boots," according to the website, and advance ticket sales were available for the upcoming release "Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania" which opens Friday.

Temecula locals once frequented the theater for "cheap movies" once operated on a shoestring budget, showing older films for under $3. Now, things have changed for Tristone Cinemas. The conglomerate currently manages only two theaters in the Inland Empire. Shifting focus away from the failing Palm Desert 10 Cinemas on Feb. 5, they now solely run the Temecku Cinemas, located at 26463 Ynez Road, and the Jurupa 14 Cinemas, in Jurupa Valley.

No longer selling cheap tickets or showing out-of-date older films, administrators of the theater's social media wrote that they would only show all new releases from here on out.

"Older movies go straight to streaming now," a spokesperson for the cinemas wrote on Instagram. "We priced ourselves to fit every budget, though."

Visitors to the theater can expect a bright, new interior, according to CEO Heidi Robertson. When you enter, expect to see upscaled concession stands and revamped seats in each theater setting. Gone are the sticky floors and retread feature films. In its place are big, comfortable reclining seats with wide armrests and newly stretched screens.

Though some locals have expressed sadness at the "cheap" tickets going away on the theater's Instagram account, others shared they are thrilled the spot has a new lease on life.

How to get tickets:

Tickets are available both over Fandango and on the Tristone Cinemas website and App, and allow for individual seat reservations. Joining the reward program has its benefits, they say, including redeeming points for free popcorn, soda and movie tickets.

All tickets are expected to sell at under $10, after tax, on weekdays and remain comparable to area theaters, like Regal Edwards Temecula & IMAX, over the weekend, they said.

There is a $1.50 online ticket fee from the website.

Moviegoers can expect Tuesday ticket deals, priced at $5.75 all day, and loyalty points when tickets are purchased through the App. More specials will be announced weekly on the theater's social media pages, according to Robertson.

There have been some hiccups along the way, including issues with setting up their online ticket sales, but owners are hoping for smooth sailing ahead.

Yes, they are hiring employees. Applications for employment are available on the corporate website for interested parties.

Coming soon to the theater such anticipated films "Cocaine Bear," Creed III, and "Scream 6." If you want more information on new releases, follow the theater on social media or join their mailing list.
